Intro to Art Studio
  • This is an introductory course that serves as a prerequisite to all other high school art courses.

  • Students are encouraged to use a variety of materials and cover a range of subjects. While technical artistic skills are practiced, emphasis is put on problem solving, exploring and developing artistic habits.

  • The focus of this course is related to artistic behaviors. What do artists do? What do artists think about? Where do artists get their ideas?

Art Studio 2D
  • This course is open to anyone who has taken Intro to Art Studio.

  • This course focuses on skill development with 2 dimensional drawing media.

  • Media discussed and used in this course includes but is not limited to: pencil, colored pencil, pastels, watercolor, acrylic paint, printmaking, collage...

Art Studio 3D
  • This course is open to anyone who has taken Intro to Art Studio.

  • This course focuses on skill development with 3 dimensional media.

  • Media discussed and used in this course includes but is not limited to: ceramics, cardboard, found objects, plaster, wire...

Media Arts
  • This course is open to anyone who has taken Intro to Art Studio.

  • This course focuses on skill development related to digital media and the development of visual literacy.

  • Media arts includes but is not limited to digital photography, photo editing, graphic design, animation, video production, etc...

Advanced Art Studio
  • This course is open to anyone who has taken 2 or more studio classes. This course is repeatable.

  • This course requires a high degree of independence and self-motivation. Students will set and achieve their own artistic goals.

  • In addition to independent art making, students will consider theme development, working in a series, collaborating with other artists, and developing their personal style.
